BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Overnight from Thursday into Friday, around 50 migrants seeking asylum arrived in Cheektowaga from New York City. Many are wondering the differences between the verbiage between immigrants, migrants, illegal immigrants and asylum-seekers.On Friday, immigration attorney Rosanna Berardi joined NEWS10's sister station WIVB to give insight into the topic. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! "It's really unclear. There's all of these terms used interchangeably. Professionally, I would call them migrants," Berardi said. "But, upon filing for an asylum application, they do become pending asylum applicants."The process to be accepted for asylum is a long one. First, upon arrival to the U.S., you have to file a paper application with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which includes biographical information as well as a reason for seeking asylum, which has to be a "well-founded fear of persecution based on...Braves hammer Rockies, again, in contrast of National League franchises speeding in opposite directions

Friday’s game at Truist Park presented a case of National League contrasts, and it showed in the final line — and everywhere in between — as Atlanta hammered its way to an 8-1 win over Colorado. The Braves looked the part of a franchise that’s made five straight playoff appearances, with a World Series title in that span and the capability to match that championship feat this fall. The Rockies, meanwhile, looked like a franchise with no identity and no obvious sense of immediate positive direction. And Colorado is a club with such a dearth of legitimate starting pitching depth that the Rockies deem it necessary to trot out a pitcher with an ERA north of 10 against perhaps the most stacked lineup in the National League. The result was a predictable romp by the NL’s best team (Atlanta has a Senior Circuit-best 44-26 record) against one of the NL’s worst as Colorado (29-43) continues to toil in the basement of the West.Right-hander Dinelson Lamet ran his ERA up to ...Colorado State football releases clean, classic uniforms for 2023

(KRON) -- All signs seem to suggest the A’s are moving to Las Vegas. Following Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo’s sign-off, the deal is now up to a final vote by MLB. However, some sports insiders aren’t convinced it’s the end of the road for the A’s in Oakland. KRON4 sat down with Former Miami Marlins President David Samson. Watch the full interview in the video player above or read the full Q&A below. Q: You are no stranger to negotiations of this kind. You worked for years to find a ballpark for the Marlins. Do you think the A's will end up leaving Oakland or is this part of a bigger plan?Samson: I don’t want anyone to give up hope. I don’t think it's absolute the A’s are going to Vegas. There’s so much work to be done for MLB to even get to a vote on relocation. I’m hoping right now we are at the edge, and that’s when deals actually happen. Right when you’re at the edge of something really bad happening, the parties get back to the table. That’s what has to happen. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco is trying a controversial new tactic for battling the city's fentanyl overdose crisis by giving law enforcement officers a green light to arrest some drug users. Mayor London Breed proclaimed, "Compassion is killing people. We have to change what is happening on the streets. It’s too easy getting drugs … they are dying under our watch."A 2023 surge in fentanyl overdose deaths, unbridled open-air drug markets operating in plain sight, and overwhelmed San Francisco Police Department officers combined into a humanitarian crisis in the city. Within the first five months of 2023, 346 people died in San Francisco from accidental drug overdoses. Police Chief Bill Scott said a crackdown on open-air drug use in the Tenderloin resulted in dozens of recent arrests.
